We know that finding information on how to get to Bardia National Park can be hard sometimes, so we gathered a list of a few ways to reach Bardia from Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini or from India. You can come to Bardia National Park from anywhere int the world by plane, bus or private transport.

How to go to Bardia from Kathmandu?
BY PLANE
There are regular domestic flights from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (50 minutes), where you can get a pickup (2 hours drive) or take a local bus until Ambasa or Thakurdwara (2-3 hours drive).
BY BUS
There are multiple buses with or without A/C from Kathmandu to Ambasa or Thakurdwara (approx. 18 hours). The bus generally leaves from Naya Bus Park in the afternoon.
Once you reach your stop, tuktuks are available to take you the rest of the way
How to go to Bardia from Pokhara?
BY PLANE
There are regular domestic flights from Pokara to Nepalgunj, where you can get a pickup (2 hours drive) or take a local bus until Ambasa or Thakurdwara (2-3 hours drive).
BY BUS
Buses with and without A/C and non A/C are leaving from Pokhara everyday from Prithvi Chowk. The drive starts in the afternoon and lasts for about 16 hours.
Once you reach Ambasa, you can get a tuktuk until our place (30 minutes).
How to go to Bardia from lumbini?
You have to get a bus from Butwal bus station. Once you are there, you have two options:
- Find the bus that goes to the west border called Mahendranagar. Get in and get out at Ambasa.
- If you don’t find the first bus, take a bus that goes to Nepalgunj and get down at Kohalpur. From Kohalpur, take another bus to Ambasa.
Once you reach Ambasa, you can get a tuktuk until our place (30 minutes).
The entire journey should take around 7 hours give or take.
How to go to Bardia from india?
The closest border to Bardia is the Nepalgunj / Rupaidiha border. Once you’ve made it to Nepalgunj, head to the bus station and get a bus to Ambasa. From Ambasa, there will be tuktuks available to reach our place.
If you enter Nepal from the western border (Banbasa/Mahendranagar), you can catch a local bus until Ambasa (4 hours drive) , or rent a jeep (3,5 hours)
If you cross the border from Sonauli, take a local bus or a taxi to Butwal bus station (30 minutes) where buses leave to Ambasa. (If you chose to travel by day on this route, you may not find a direct bus, and the journey can be a bit longer.)
You can also take a jeep from Butwal to our place.
